As winter drags on in Boston, Karen and I decided it was high time for a field trip and what better place to head in the winter but south.
OK, so not so far south that we had to pack sunscreen or anything, we went to Rhode Island.
On Monday we took the day and went to visit the team at Fuel Belt. Vinu and Ann Malik and the whole team at Fuel Belt are such great supporters, turning out great products that help us to train and race faster because we’re able to carry our liquid nutrition with us in a variety of ways….
In any case, it was high time to get down there and meet the Fuel Belt team. What a pleasure. The entire team was so enthusiastic and so hard working. Even their accountants who were in town for tax season were cool! Their office space was fantastic. Very open, very dynamic…and what a view!!
After spending some time with Fuel Belt, we went over to meet with Todd and Lisbeth Kenyon, owners of ttbikefit.com. It was fascinating. Todd is insanely thoughtful about bike fit and the software he’s got to help him analyze bike fit is like nothing I’d ever seen. He can analyze body angles while you pedal so it is a dynamic analysis of how you are positioned when pedaling under load vs an analysis of a static stopped position often used to measure your position on a bike. Truly unique.
As it turned out, Todd was pretty pleased with my bike position. He made some great recommendations, saying I could drop my front end a bit. I had dropped it a bit about a year ago, and Todd was confident I could take it even a bit lower. He also made some “comfort” adjustments that were great.
All in all, a wonderful experience and some great new friends both at Fuel Belt and TTBikefit.com!
